Pre Conference Workshop – I
Writing a good research grant proposal
Securing funding through grant proposals can be a long and difficult process. The content and quality of the research proposal you submit to a funding agency determine whether or not you are going to be successful. Therefore it is vital for the researcher to have a full understanding of what is required, as well as knowing the various stages of the application process so that your chances of gaining a grant are maximum. The workshop is going to provide you a first-hand, in-depth knowledge of common pitfalls and weaknesses, and how to avoid rejection of your proposal submitted for funding.

Design and conduct of large-scale surveys
Large scale surveys are an invaluable source of health information and provide high-quality data for policy development, program planning, monitoring and evaluation. Such surveys have been used extensively to gather information on fertility, mortality, family planning, maternal and child health, and other aspects of health and nutrition in India. These are usually sponsored by international agencies like the World Bank, USAID, DANIDA, CIDA, DFID; Central and State Governments. A competence in design and conduct of such surveys will provide a good opportunity to researchers, NGOs and faculty members to apply for its funding.
